NY VALER KIRKE
Ny Valer Kirke: PALISADES
Open International Architectural Competition
Norwegian Association of Architects (NAL)
Municipality of Valer, Norway
The original church burned down 29 May 2009 and was consecrated in June 1806.
Church Congregation and the Municipality of Valer sought a future-oriented church that embodies the past, present and future.
Våler municipality is located in one of Norway's most important forest areas, and within the village limits is Norway's largest sawmill, northern Europe's largest particleboard plant. Against this backdrop, the resulting church proposal exhibits the forward thinking understandings of wood construction that reference and respect the past.
